Pivot
This series includes works that juxtapose subjects mined from photographs of Toronto.
The pieces include a third major element: a large abstracted colour-saturate shape/window/frame/division. This third element directs the viewer’s interaction with the paintings’ main subjects.
My goal is to spark a visual inquiry into architectural, spatial and metaphorical contradictions, and their resolve. My approach is dialectical, implicit and explicit in the tension, collision and collusion between drawing and painting, photography and painting, and the abstract and representational.
An exhibition of this works was held at Toronto's Spoke Club on May 2016 and was reviewed in 54 edition of Public Art Culture Ideas Journal
